Instant Messenger Not Working??

Hi,

I'm fairly new to this Website. So far, not one person has replied to me when I've tried to Instant Message them? Has it worked for anybody, or is it just that nobody wants to reply me?? I hope somebody replies to this! I'm starting to feel like I'm on a deserted island!

The Instant Message tool was added last week, so many members still don't know about it.

There are a few things that might be causing problems, although none of them have to do with you specifically.

If people have pop-up blockers on their computer, they will not see the Instant Message...because their browser will prevent it from appearing. We have posted notices about this, but it may take some time before most members understand that they need to turn off their pop-up blockers on our site.

Separately, many people login to the site, but they forget to logout when they leave. Although our system will automatically log members out after an extended period of inactivity, there is often a period of time when a member appears to be online...even though they have left the site. If you send an IM to someone who isn't on the site, the message you see on your side is 'member is not available'.

As the site grows, and as people begin to use the tools more, you should find it easier to connect.

And yes, we have tested the IM system, and it is working.
